Shift Engineer (mechanical bias)

Reports to:  Engineering Supervisor/Production Manager

Based at:  Primarily Holme Mill (Ramsbottom) but may be required to work at Brookhouse Mill (Greenmount, Bury)

Hours per week: 40 hours, 2 shifts 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, hours will require a degree of flexibility for projects and holiday cover

Job purpose: To ensure continuity of production processes by maintenance and improvement of plant, equipment and processes

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out reactive maintenance of plant, buildings, and equipment
  • Carry out quality inspections/scheduled checks on machinery and complete PM’s
  • Carry out statute inspections
  • Find/rectify faults, working with the Engineering Supervisor to arrange replacement parts if required
  • Work with the Engineering Supervisor to create a meaningful asset register and live stock list Actively work to eliminate obsolescence
  • Maintain manufacturing, ancillary and support processes
  • Adhering to and promoting health and safety regulations
  • Liaising with various departments within the business as required
  • Providing a prompt and valuable service
  • Work with the Engineering Supervisor to create PM schedules for mechanical and electrical elements of machinery and facilities.
  • Updating a live CMMS system with day-to-day tasks and outstanding/new tasks

           

Team Cormar:

  • Cover team duties as required
  • Understand how own role and KPI’s impact on organisation and department objectives
  • Support manager to deliver the above
  • Must have a flexible approach to working patterns
  • Adhere to and promote the Cormar Values

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a recognised apprenticeship
  • Must have relevant experience in an industrial environment and be proficient regarding control systems and drives using PLC’s and Inverters
  • 17th/18th Edition qualification (not essential)
  • Mechanical skills which would be considered to be an advantage, to include welding, fabrication and bench fitting
  • Must be willing to undertake additional training to expand knowledge base and develop skills in line with organisational requirements
  • You will be working with colleagues from other areas of the business, good communication skills are essential
  • Previous work with Tufting machinery/textile machinery is beneficial
