Vacancy: Day Driver

Title: Class 2 Day Driver

Reports to: Line Manager and Team Leader

Based at: Brookhouse Mill

Hours per week: Guaranteed 40 hours basic and 10 hours overtime

Main Duties:

To support the effective and efficient operation of Cormar’s distribution function. The role involves completing multi‑drop deliveries to customers using the delivery management system, alongside other duties as reasonably directed by the Team Leader or Line Manager.

The Role

  • Drive company vehicles and operate company equipment safely and responsibly, in line with company policies, procedures, and all relevant legislation
  • Provide a professional driving service that meets and exceeds customer expectations, ensuring customer service level agreements are consistently achieved
  • Complete all delivery documentation accurately, including obtaining customer signatures and using the PDA for electronic proof of delivery
  • Comply with vehicle security and standing instructions at all times
  • Carry out daily vehicle and auxiliary equipment checks prior to operation, reporting any defects promptly
  • On return to base, report to the traffic office for a full debrief and communicate any delivery issues or exceptions in a timely manner
  • Occasional nights away from home may be required (rare)
  • This is an active, hands‑on role that includes some manual handling and physical tasks. Cormar is committed to providing a safe working environment. All manual handling tasks are supported by training, appropriate equipment, and safe systems of work

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Full UK Category C driving licence, with penalty points not exceeding company policy limits
  • Valid Driver CPC qualification card with proof of current training hours
  • Previous experience driving commercial vehicles
  • Good working knowledge of driving legislation and compliance requirements
  • Strong customer service skills with a professional and courteous approach
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible approach to working hours to meet operational and customer requirements
  • Reliable timekeeping and attendance
