How to Create the Ultimate Cosy Bedroom

When it comes to your home, comfort is key – and there is no room in the home where creating a cosy, comfortable environment is more important than your bedroom.

From soft deep-pile carpets to cocooning colour schemes, Jess Contomichalos, Stylist at Cormar Carpets, has shared her top tips for designing a bedroom with cosiness and tranquillity in mind.

Colour Palette

Choosing a colour palette for your bedroom is a great place to start when thinking about designing your sleep sanctuary.

For smaller rooms with less natural light, choose neutral colours such as off-white, light beige or soft grey for walls. These light, bright tones will help to make the space appear bigger and allow you to introduce bolder, brighter colours as accents throughout your space.

For larger rooms, choosing warmer shades for your walls such as golden yellows, soft oranges or warmer beige tones will instantly create a cosy, cocooning feeling.

Riva Carpet
Flooring

While softer, deeper pile carpets aren’t always practical in those high traffic areas such as stairs and landings, they are a great choice for bedrooms where comfort and luxury are of the utmost importance.

Your bedroom floor is often the first thing that your feet touch each morning, so a soft, deep-pile carpet, such as the new Riva range from Cormar Carpets, can instantly add warmth to your bedroom and create cosiness underfoot.

Riva is available in 16 stylish plain shades including warm neutrals, perfect for a cosy colour scheme. As well as providing a soft, luxurious base for your bedroom, Riva is also stain resistant and bleach cleanable with a 10 year stain and wear warranty, making it a practical choice for family homes.

Lighting

Good bedroom lighting is an important part of creating a calming, ambient space. Choose a mixture of ambient, and task lighting to create ‘layers’ of lighting that can be utilised throughout the day.

Bedside lamps or wall lights are the perfect way to create a soft light that can be used when you’re winding down for sleep.

Texture

Texture is an important feature of interior design that can often be overlooked but has the power to add another dimension of cosiness to your space.

Adding accessories such as throws, rugs and cushions instantly creates warmth and depth, creating points of interest in your bedroom and giving you the chance to experiment with different trends.
