We’ve won over fifty carpet and flooring industry awards, including being voted “Best Carpet Manufacturer 2022” by readers of Interiors Monthly and F1 “Carpet Supplier Of The Year” for 13 consecutive years.

Flooring Innovation Award Winner 2022

Voted for by leading trade magazine ‘The Stocklists’, Cormar is delighted to have won an award in the Man Made Carpet category of the Flooring Innovation Awards for our recently launched Riva range. This award follows a run of industry wins, most recently, being voted ‘Best Carpet Manufacturer’ by readers of Interiors Monthly. The Flooring Innovation Awards recognise everything that’s new, exciting and innovative in the UK floorcoverings sector. We are extremely proud of our Riva range and are thrilled to have received this award.

Building upon the ongoing popularity of our Sensation ranges, Riva brings a new dimension to our family of soft deep-pile carpets - providing a balance between the practical living qualities of easy-clean polypropylene carpet and the sumptuous feeling of a soft deep carpet.

Riva has a modern palette of 16 stylish plain shades including a strong collection of popular greys and warm neutrals, alongside some bolder colour choices. This range is suitable for use all around the home, although it is clearly a classic for bedrooms and nurseries, spaces in the home where extra softness is desired.

Marketing Director David Cormack comments “we’re so pleased to have won two awards this year. It’s a fantastic achievement for Cormar Carpet Company. We pride ourselves on continually producing new ranges that appeal to modern day, busy homes, alongside providing an industry-leading delivery service and excellent product quality. The fact we’ve won not one, but two awards, is testament to all the hard work we’ve put in over the past year.”

Cormar continues to produce all its wool and polypropylene carpet ranges from its two production sites near Bury in Lancashire. It also has its own fleet of 70 distribution vehicles to ensure a top class delivery service to customers, as well as its own team of 30 sales representatives throughout Britain and Ireland.

Cormar Carpets is one of the UK’s most successful independent carpet producers with some one million people a year buying a Cormar carpet.

Interiors Monthly: Best Carpet Manufacturer 2012 to 2022

For the tenth year in succession, Cormar Carpet Company is delighted to be voted the UK’s “Best Carpet Manufacturer” by readers of Interiors Monthly.

Receiving the award again is a great privilege and we would like to say a huge thank you to all our customers, suppliers and colleagues for their ongoing support over the past year.

We have been manufacturing carpet in the UK for more than 65 years from our mills in Lancashire. The key to our success has been our amazing team of people that work behind the scenes to ensure a first-class delivery service to retail, wholesale and contract customers.

In addition to the team spirit, we have continued to invest over the past 12 months. In the last year, three new ranges have been successfully launched into the trade. We have expanded our family of easy clean carpets with the addition of Primo Tweeds and Linwood, followed by the introduction of Riva, a luxurious deep-pile carpet offering a balance between the practical living qualities of easy-clean polypropylene carpet and the sumptuous feeling of a soft deep carpet. This year has also seen the relaunch of our popular Apollo Plus range, now available in an extensive palette of 22 heather and plain shades.

Another service enhancement has been our award-winning Trade Portal. Since its launch in 2011, the portal has gone from strength to strength with 59% of customers now placing orders via the online service. With a host of new features introduced this year, the portal is now better than ever, making it the place to go for online trading amongst carpet retailers. In the past year, we have invested over £75,000 towards improvements such as a full system re-build, a brand new after-sales area, and a number of other features which have been highly requested by portal users; enabling customers to carry out most of their interactions with Cormar online, should they choose to do so.

This year also marks the completion of one of Cormar’s largest investments in its Backing Plant. Over £600,000 has been invested in the plant this year, as part of an overall upgrade strategy. The recent work involved the replacement of the front-end entry equipment which is responsible for preparing unbacked rolls prior to latex application. Taking 12 months to complete, the Backing Plant is now benefitting from improvements in runnability and quality - as well as a cleaner, more modern looking plant.

Cormar has been at the forefront of carpet manufacturing for the last seven decades. Key to its success is its family business philosophy, as David Cormack, Marketing Director at Cormar said: “To be awarded the Best Carpet Manufacturer for the tenth year in a row is a huge honour for all at Cormar Carpets. This year we’ve made huge investments in the business that take us forward as a dynamic and leading-edge player in the market, so it’s great for the Cormar team to be recognised once again for the hard work and determination that they have put in.”

Flooring Innovation Award Winner 2021

Voted for by leading trade magazine ‘The Stocklists’, Cormar has picked up an award in the Natural Category of the Flooring Innovation Awards for our Woodland Heather Twist range. This follows a run of industry wins, most recently, being voted ‘Best Carpet Manufacturer’ by readers of Interiors Monthly. We are extremely proud of Woodland Heather Twist and are delighted to have received this award.

Woodland Heather Twist is available in a palette of 14 beautiful shades including earthy neutrals and on-trend grey tones. We particularly love Goldcrest (shown left) which provides a bright yet natural warmth to any room. Wool carpets are a more sustainable choice for you and your home, acting as natural insulators to create a cosy and comfortable, homely feel.  This carpet would add a touch of luxury to any room, made using tightly twisted yarn to create a hard-wearing dense pile carpet, this is the perfect choice for a family home.

CRUK Long-standing Support Award 2016

Cormar Carpets has won the ‘Longstanding Support Award’ from Carpet Recycling UK for their strong commitment to carpet recycling and sustainability.

Each year 400,000* tonnes of carpet waste is buried in UK landfill. Increasingly, businesses, householders and local authorities are looking for better alternatives for the recycling of unwanted carpet materials. Carpet Recycling UK help ensure that the growing demand for carpet recycling services is met.  Carpets are made from natural and synthetic fibres, which still have a value once the carpet is no longer wanted; they can be used in a wide range of applications from sports surfaces to insulation.

The third Carpet Recycling UK awards ceremony recently took place, recognising member organisations and individuals for particular innovation, best practice and commitment in the past year. Awards were presented by the guest host, celebrity designer Oliver Heath.

“As a leading UK Carpet Manufacturer we need to protect the environment and feel strongly that excess carpet waste should be recycled rather than end up in landfill,” said Robert Barker, finance director at Cormar Carpets. “We have been a core funder of Carpet recycling UK since 2009, and we are delighted to have won this award.”

Carpet Recycling UK is a not for profit membership association working to increase the recycling of carpet waste across the UK. *Based on the Carpet Recycling UK annual survey in 2013 which collected self-reported figures from carpet "recyclers" throughout the UK and an estimate of incineration of carpets by local authorities.
