Cormar Carpets Holds Flooring Guild Training Course for British Carpet Retailers
At the end of April this year, Cormar Carpets held the popular Flooring Guild Training Course at its Brookhouse Mill site. The carpet and flooring course was attended by 20 carpet retailers from across the UK and Ireland.
The three-day ‘Selling Quality Carpets’ training event, run by Ray Morgan from the Flooring Guild, has been held every year for the last four years to help retailers train staff that are new to the flooring trade. It is designed to provide basic product knowledge about carpets, selling techniques and how to plan and estimate effectively.
The Flooring Guild is a ‘not for profit’ organisation, which was founded in 1999 to raise standards in the flooring industry through training and educational programmes. The organisation aims to provide a formal induction programme to assist people coming into the industry and a skills development programme, to motivate current employees.
Commenting on the course Alex Neale from Happy Feet Floors said: “I would definitely recommend the course to all carpet retailers and smaller carpet shop owners and their staff. It allowed me to look at my business from the outside, rather than the day to day running. “
David Cormack, Marketing Director of Cormar Carpets said: “Carpet shops throughout the UK and Ireland have had a tough time throughout the recession. This course, run in conjunction with the Flooring Guild is intended to help our Independent Retailer Customers with their staff training. Every year we get really good feedback from those flooring retailers that attend the course and I am sure that the training not only helps not them in terms of sales, but also their customers too, because they get a better service.”
