Mayor of Bury Visits Local Carpet Company
Directors and staff at Bury-based Cormar Carpets recently welcomed the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Yvonne Creswell, as well as Leader of Bury Council, Mike Connolly and Chief Executive, Mike Kelly, as part of a tour of local businesses and manufacturers.
“It was a pleasure to show the Mayor and Council Leaders around both our mills and let them see the carpet business at work, and the people who work here.” said Robert Barker, Finance Director of Cormar Carpets. “ It was a great opportunity to discuss local recruitment, infrastructure and other aspects necessary to maintain business as carpet manufacturers and distributors in the locality.”
Cormar has demonstrated a continuous policy of inward investment in terms of plant, machinery, delivery fleet and people at it’s two Bury based sites. In the past five years, a new four and five metre backing line, including a treble head shearing machine and a new cut length conveyor system, have been installed. The most recent investment is a new five metre wide cutting machine at Brookhouse Mill, to increase capacity on their cut length deliveries to carpet shops throughout the UK and Ireland.

To back up Cormar’s commitment to service, a 20 strong sales team is employed nationwide to service carpet shop’s merchandising requirements, as well as cutting service to provide free online samples.
