Cormar Pedals its Way to £1k for The Christie Charity
Cormar Carpets has raised £1,000 for The Christie Cancer Centre with a charity bike ride.
Six employees from the leading carpet manufacturer in Lancashire, Cormar Carpets, took on the challenge of the 60-mile bike ride to raise funds for the Manchester-based centre which treats over 40,000 patients a year. They completed the Manchester to Blackpool route in just four and a half hours.
Money raised by the Cormar team will now go towards Christie’s ongoing research, treatment and additional patient services. This includes plans for a new treatment centre to diagnose people more quickly and improve treatment services.
“We take part in numerous fundraising events each year and with a focus on staff wellbeing, The Christie's bike ride was the perfect way to combine our love for fundraising and fitness. A number of employees cycle to and from work and jumped at the chance to take part,” said Craig Marshall Logistics Manager at Cormar Carpets.
“Some of the team’s friends or family of the team have been affected by cancer in some way and with The Christie’s Centre being so close to home, this bike ride was something we felt extremely passionate about.”
Sponsors of the team included Lancashire DAF, PPS Commercials, Transline and System Hygiene who provided support and equipment.
