Taking the top spot as the most popular interior design style of 2023 is cottagecore, with over 12.8 billion views on TikTok and nearly 4.6 million posts on Instagram.
As the name suggests, cottagecore takes inspiration from rural, agricultural life. It’s all about escaping modern stresses and embracing the simpler things. Third place goes to minimalism, with over 737 million views on TikTok and 27.4 million posts on Instagram. Putting the focus on simplicity, minimalist design is usually defined by neutral colours, clean lines and uncluttered spaces.

The third most popular design trend on social media is dried flowers, with over 357 million views on TikTok and over 3.3 million posts on Instagram.

Or, taking a step up from there, macrame, pampas grass, floating shelves and terrazzo all start from around £5 to achieve at home.
At the other end of the scale, if you’re looking for an excuse to splash out, plant walls are the most expensive interior design trend on our list, with high-end options costing anywhere up to £20,000!
