Samantha of @hoops_and_home has a passion for interiors and neutral schemes. Working to restore the original character of her 1930s home, Samantha shares her experience with Cormar and her journey to finding the perfect carpet for her home.
We moved into our 1930s property at the end of 2021. The house had been modernised by the previous owners, and we have been working hard since moving in to restore its original character.
One of the more significant changes required in order to achieve this was to replace the existing carpet. We wanted to upgrade to something a lot more on trend and neutral in colour, to sit cohesively with the colour schemes we had chosen for the rest of the house.
On the stairs in particular, it has been a dream of mine for a long time to have a traditional stair runner, and after months of hard work and preparation, it was finally time to decide on a carpet.
After researching carpet styles and sifting through lots of beautiful inspiration via Instagram, we found Cormar Carpet Company, and this is where our search ended!

We set about ordering a number of samples and were instantly drawn to the Avebury range, a hard-wearing loop pile carpet, which is perfect for our little family. We started with the stair runner and landing, followed later by continuing with the same carpet through to both the master bedroom and second bedroom, which belongs to our two young boys. We are absolutely thrilled with the end result and the transformation that it has made!
Choosing the right carpet is so important as it sets the tone for the whole house, and for us, a neutral colour carpet was the best solution, as it allowed us to be more adventurous with colours elsewhere in the house.
The Avebury range is known for its striking neutrals and we opted for the colour Chippenham Grain. The entire upstairs now feels fresh and uplifted, we really couldn’t be happier with the end result!
