Vacancy: Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias)

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Based at: Brookhouse Mill primarily but may be required to work at Holme Mill

Hours per week: 48 hours, rotating days and nights every 2 weeks, Monday – Thursday.  A reasonable amount of overtime will be expected and a degree of flexibility for projects and holiday cover

Job purpose: To ensure continuity of our production processes by maintenance and improvement of plant, equipment and processes

Key responsibilities:

  • First-line for reactive maintenance of plant, buildings and equipment
  • Carry out quality inspections and scheduled checks on machinery and parts PM’s
  • Finding and fixing faults working with the Co-ordinator to arrange replacement parts
  • Maintaining manufacturing, ancillary and support processes
  • Adhering to and promoting health and safety regulations
  • Liaising with various departments within the business as required
  • Providing a prompt and valuable service        

Team Cormar:

  • Cover team duties as required
  • Understand how own role and KPI’s impact on organisation and departments objectives
  • Support manager to deliver the above
  • A flexible approach to working patterns
  • Complete regular company surveys.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a recognised apprenticeship
  • Solid mechanical skills are essential and should include welding, fabrication and bench fitting
  • Basic fault finding on electrical circuits and components would be an advantage, i.e. swap out faulty motors (three phase) check control and stop circuits
  • 18th Edition qualification or recognised qualification is an advantage
  • Must be willing to undertake additional training to expand knowledge base and develop skills in line with organisational requirements
  • Good communication skills are essential to liaise with colleagues from other areas of the business
