Vacancy: Multi-Skilled Engineer

Brookhouse Mill - Ramsbottom

Job title: Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical bias 70/30 split)

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Based at: Primarily Brookhouse Mill (Greenmount, Bury) but may be required to work at Holme Mill (Ramsbottom)

Hours per week: 40 hours, though a reasonable amount of overtime will be expected as required by the business. The hours will require a degree of flexibility for projects and holiday cover.

Job purpose: To ensure continuity of our production processes by maintenance of, and improvement of plant, equipment and processes

Key responsibilities:

  • First line for reactive maintenance of plant, buildings and equipment
  • Carry out quality inspections and scheduled checks on machinery and parts PM’s.
  • Carry out statute inspections
  • Finding and fixing faults working with the Co-ordinator to arrange replacement parts if required
  • Actively work to eliminate obsolescence
  • Maintaining manufacturing, ancillary and support processes
  • Adhering to and promoting health and safety regulations
  • Liaising with various departments within the business and working with the Tufting Team Leaders
  • Providing a prompt and valuable service
  • Work with the Co-ordinator to create PM schedules for electrical elements of machinery and facilities
  • Work with the Co-ordinator to create a meaningful asset register and live stock list        

Team Cormar:

  • Cover team duties as required
  • Understand how own role and KPI’s impact on organisation and department objectives
  • Support manager to deliver the above
  • A flexible approach to working patterns

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a recognised apprenticeship
  • Solid Mechanical skills a must have, to include welding, fabrication and bench fitting.
  • Basic fault finding on electrical circuits, PLC’s and components would be an advantage, i.e. swap out faulty motors (three phase) check control and stop circuits, interrogate PLC’s (basic)
  • 18th Edition qualification or recognised qualification an advantage
  • Must be willing to undertake additional training to expand knowledge base and develop your skills in line with organisational requirements
  • Good communication skills are essential to liaise with colleagues from other areas of the business
