There are a variety of carpet fibres available and each has its own properties, here is a guide to the benefits of the carpet fibres available.
WOOL
Wool is the most commonly used natural carpet fibre in the world. It is a traditional carpet fibre and is still considered to be the most luxurious. Its properties include excellent resilience (which is its ability to spring back into shape), good resistance to soiling, low flammability and easy cleanability.
FIBRE BLENDS
Very often wool is blended with a percentage of synthetic fibre such as nylon or polypropylene, the most common blends are: 80% Wool and 20% Nylon 80% Wool, 10% Nylon and 10% Tuftbond 50% Wool, 40% Polypropylene, 10% Tuftbond Combining fibres means you get a mix of the positive properties from various fibres and changing the quantities of the blends means that there is a carpet fibre which is suitable for throughout your home.
POLYPROPYLENE
A strong fibre which has very good wearing and stain resistant qualities, it also offers very good value for money.
POLYESTER
This fibre has a soft feel and a lustrous appearance making it an ideal product for bedroom and bathroom carpets. It also has good stain resist and wear qualities.
