Cormar Celebrates Harrogate Flooring Show 50th Anniversary

Harrogate Flooring Show 2012

Once again Cormar Carpets exhibited their range of quality carpets at the annual trade Flooring Exhibition in Harrogate. The exhibition, which first started in 1962, celebrated its 50th year in September. Cormar were doubly proud to be one of the original exhibitors, all those years ago.

This year Cormar Carpets majored on two new carpet ranges –Sensation, a deep pile, heavy weight, easy clean carpet, which was launched in July and Primo Choice, a polypropylene heather, stain resistant carpet, available in two qualities - Elite and Super, which was launched at the show. Both new carpet ranges met with a very good reaction, with displays and rolls of both ranges being sold to carpet shops throughout the UK and Ireland.

As well as promoting the two latest new carpet ranges, Cormar also introduced a new display unit called the Sales Station, which highlights two carpet ranges on a double-sided lectern, as well as showing five other ranges on a tombala display. Designed to show the maximum amount of carpet samples in one square metre of space, the Sales Station offers carpet shops the opportunity to show either Cormar Carpet’s Easy Clean ranges or its Wool ranges, including 100% wool carpets and British Wool twist ranges. Both stands are provided with attractive, eye-catching graphic panels.

On the technology side, updates to Cormar Carpet’s Trade Web Portal were shown for the first time; including an option to remember retailers Log-in and password details. The trade website was launched in 2011, to allow carpet shops to check current stock and place orders any time of the day and night, including weekends. “The reaction to the trade portal has been tremendous” said Craig Marshall, Cormar’s Head of Channels. “Our trade customer’s like the easy-to-use nature of the site and the ability to see’real-time’ stock online and obtain an accurate delivery date."

An additional bonus this year was the opportunity for flooring retailers to win an I Pad every day on the stand. Customers were able to fill in an entry card and over the course of the three-day show, three I Pads were given away. The lucky winners were Chris Walker of Jims Carpets in Leeds, Steve Parson from Astra Carpets in Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire and William Eastham from Potts, Ward & Woodcocks in Brighton.
