Cormar Carpets expands its delivery fleet

In spite of economic conditions, Cormar Carpets has expanded it's delivery fleet by nearly 20% to cope with peak demand throughout the year.

Cormar has introduced eight new vehicles to its line up, taking the total in-house fleet to 58. The vehicles (DAF 75’s and LF’s 55’s supplied by Lancashire DAF, Preston) are built to Euro 5 specification, making them the latest in vehicle technology and ensuring Cormar operates the cleanest and most eco-friendly vehicles.

 

Over the past five years Cormar has invested over £2million in building its own nationwide delivery fleet. It has become an important part of its offering to independent carpet retailers and local carpet shops, differentiating it from many of its competitors, and earning a reputation as one of the speediest and most reliable delivery services around.

 

"Our delivery service is fundamental to the success of the company," said David Judge, MD of Cormar. "As consumer demand for ever shorter lead times puts retailers under increasing pressure to deliver, we have risen to the challenge and added extra vehicles to the fleet.

 

"The vehicles formed part of a re-organisation exercise ensuring that we have the capacity to deal with peak demand throughout the year. And we will monitor the performance of the vehicles with 12 DAF dealers around the country on a daily basis."

 

In addition, eight new de-mount boxes are also on order, which take the fleet to over 150 pieces of equipment operating 24 hours a day six days a week. With an updated specification they will ensure the condition of the fleet is maintained through its five year plus life cycle.

 

Said David: "It is estimated that a commercial vehicle is viewed by over by four million people each year therefore keeping the vehicles clean and in tip top condition means the ‘quality’ of the Cormar brand is consistent."

 

It was over three decades ago that Cormar decided to make door-to-door delivery part of its service. Now from its Bury, Lancashire, base, it delivers right across the UK direct from site and through 12 outbases, strategically located to offer an average 48 hour nationwide turnaround service to customers.
